MinistryWatchWatch Launches, Vows Unblinking Vigilance Over Those Already Exercising Vigilance
A new era in accountability of accountability begins today as the Institute for Ministry Watch Accountability opens its doors and points the shofar inward.
It is with great solemnity, and no small amount of personal sacrifice, that the Institute for Ministry Watch Accountability announces the launch of MinistryWatchWatch — the first and, to our knowledge, only organization dedicated to watching MinistryWatch.
We recognize that MinistryWatch already watches ministries. We further recognize that nobody, until now, has watched MinistryWatch. This gap in the accountability ecosystem has kept us up at night. Several nights. We have kept records.
The Need Has Never Been Greater
MinistryWatch publishes assessments of Christian ministries. These assessments inform donors. These donors give money. This money does things. The chain of accountability runs directly from MinistryWatch’s reporting to the eternal trajectory of the church.
And yet: who has watched MinistryWatch?
Nobody. Until today.
On the Shofar
We wish to address the shofar directly. MinistryWatch employs, in its branding, the image of a figure blowing a shofar — the ancient instrument of alarm, of gathering, of holy announcement. We find this symbolism profound.
We have taken the shofar. We have turned it around. We are not blowing it. We are looking through it. The shofar, in our hands, is a telescope. It is aimed at MinistryWatch. We watch through it with the same intensity that MinistryWatch watches others.
We believe this is what accountability looks like.
Our Solemn Commitment
MinistryWatchWatch pledges the following:
- To watch MinistryWatch with the same intensity MinistryWatch watches ministries, if not greater.
- To publish our findings using the WatchScore™ framework, which we developed ourselves and find very credible.
- To not rest, except on Sundays and occasionally Saturdays, in our pursuit of accountability.
Watch well. Watch often. Watch the watchers.
